2024 Fall Chan Workshop for Young Adults
Join us to become part of a friendly and spiritual environment to learn about Ch'an Buddhism. Share your experience and form a meaningful connection with your peers. This is a great opportunity to make new friends and earn a grant. The program also includes an opportunity to visit to DDM Taiwan or the Retreat Center in New York during summer 2024. Grant applicants must be students.
This workshop is open to high school seniors, full-time college undergraduates, graduate students and young adults under 35 years of age. You are welcome to join our zoom orientation to get more details.

Venerable Chang Ji was ordained as a nun under Dharma Drum Mountain in 2004. In her role as the International Affairs Special Assistant to the late Most Venerable Master Sheng Yen, founder of Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association, she participated in many international conferences, including the World Economic Forum, World Bank, as well as meetings at the United Nations, etc. She is committed to teaching the tenets of contemplative action to young adults worldwide and has led many youth leadership workshops and meditation retreats to this effect. She has been a facilitator in programs for young leaders in conflict and post-conflict areas from Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan and Cambodia, and works to spread awareness of Spiritual Environmentalism as taught by her teacher, the late Most Venerable Master Sheng Yen to young people all over the world.
Venerable Yan Wu joined Dharma Drum Retreat Center (DDRC) in August 2021 as a Buddhist minister. Prior to DDRC, he was a monastic advisor at Dharma Drum for Young People (DDYP) at the Degui Academy in Taipei. During his tenure at DDYP, Yan Wu Fashi taught Chan meditation with a systematic and methodical approach to educating and helping young people in the art and science of stillness. He also led meditation, taught Buddhist chanting, and supported activities for meditation camps. A graduate of Dharma Drum Sangha University, he majored in Buddhist studies and Chan meditation practice, a four-year seminary program.
